The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel.
Proverbs 1:1

Too often we view God as someone detached from practical living here on earth – a mysterious being in a spiritual world. On the contrary God designed planet earth and every creature on it.

The book of Proverbs, written by the wisest man, Solomon...

Our Sufficiency in Christ
Date: Mar 2011

Let go and let God have His wonderful way in your life.

Our greatest desire as ministers and Christian leaders is to positively impact the people we’ve been called to serve. Bringing freedom to God’s people is a quest to which I have given my life. Rich Miller and Neil Anderson, co-authors of ”Freedom from Fear,” state: “Though Christ has ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, He continues His ministry of liberation through His people, the church. The truth still sets people free today, and Jesus is the truth. Though composed of imperfect people, the church of the living God is still “the pillar and support of the truth.” It is given wisdom through the Word of God, which is truth (John 17:17); it is empowered by the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth (John 16:13). The Lord has a specific plan for your freedom. He knows exactly what you need, when you need it, and from where it should come. And when Jesus does the work, He does it right. For when the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36).

We need to stop submitting to fear and start submitting to God. The word submit means to subject oneself to some authority. It was a military term meaning to rank or arrange under. Submitting means letting go of the reins and putting them in the hand of someone who is superior in rank. To submit to God is to come under His authority. The essence of humility is to “put no confidence in the flesh” and to choose to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might” (see Philippians 3:3 and Ephesians 6:10). The beginning step of liberation from fear may be the most frightening part of the process for some people. It is like the man who slipped at the edge of the cliff, but managed to hold on to a tree branch for dear life. He could not pull himself up. To lose his grip on the branch meant sudden death. He cried for help and to his relief he heard a voice say, “I will help you.” The desperate man looked up but didn’t see anybody. “Who are you?” he asked. “Are you going to help me?” Then he heard a voice say, “I’m the one who created you, and I will help you because I love you, but you have to let go!”

That is the step of faith that all of us must take in order to be saved. But what alternative do we have? We can try to save ourselves, but eventually we will lose our grip and fall. If hanging on to the reins of life has only resulted in fear and anxiety thus far, does that not clearly reveal the futility of such a choice? Could not the presence of anxiety be the very impetus we need in order to submit to God and experience His peace? We have to be brought to the end of our self-sufficiency in order to find our sufficiency in Christ. Let go and let God take control of your destiny.
