For the first time in several years our church and hall roof started to leak in places that had not leaked before. My space which I call my office was like a shower head. With limited buckets we had difficulty in containing the deluge. People who came for counselling would have been excused for thinking we had become Baptists over night! Our enterprising, versatile, Charles Mills assisted by Gilbert Nkosi, was so determined to find out where the roof was leaking, removed part of my ceiling to pin point the culprit holes in the zinc sheeting. Those who I counsell were oblivious of the gaping holes in the ceiling because they were so accustomed to looking down. Others who noticed the holes were informed by me that I thought they had overcome their problems because they were now “looking up”.
Because of the long drought we were unaware of the roof being in such a poor state. We plan to open a special “Roof Repair Fund”. If you are able to donate toward this very urgent need you may mark your special donation to “St Marks Roof Repairs” on an envelope or if when depositing the donation directly into our church bank account indicate that it is for roof repairs.
We are most grateful for the good rains but with such a “holy” roof we are left with mixed feelings. To use an old adage “It never rains but pours”, but in any case solid stable Christians should never be fair weather believers. Come what may the Lord is faithful and performs His plan magnificently.
May the sunshine of the Lord’s goodness shine on you this winter time.
