People still wonder how the world began. Scientists and experts present their theories of how life began. The Bible does not debate these theories it simply says “in the beginning God” and so in the opening verses of the Gospel of John we read these words again, “In the beginning was the Word who became flesh.” Life begins when the Giver of life provides the energy to ignite life. God is the Giver, Jesus is the Gift. Receive eternal life today.

There is always darkness in the world. In a sense it represents the old pre-creation chaos trying to re-assert itself. The birth of Christ, a sign of the overcoming of darkness by light, reminds us that God will not let the darkness have complete control. It is also a promise of the final triumph of light over darkness. So it is a celebration of hope, of joy, of love and of (God’s) light. When the angel came to the shepherds and “glory shone around” it was more than God’s light breaking into the Bethlehem night. It was “the everlasting Light” shining into every “dark street” on earth.

What can you do to keep the light shining? This is a question only you can answer.
