Handle Your Success
Date: 12 Feb 2012

For every person that succeeds there are thousands who fail. Most times it hurts to be on the bottom but believe me it hurts more when you are on the top. It is true that Satan, who is the enemy of our soul, attacks us at the point of our weakness. But he also is subtle and attacks us at the point of our strength. If we are aware of our weakness we most likely will guard or protect this area of our lives. The strong areas of our life are often vulnerable areas because of our self confidence. Paul the Apostle very wisely wrote that he depended more on God’s strength when he felt personally weak. In our weakness God’s strength is manifested.

The praise of people may lead to pride and pride can so easily blind a leader, manager and team captain to the opposition’s strategy. Show humility and grace when people praise you for your achievements or success. The praise of others should not be rejected when offered in sincerity. However, we are not to build our lives around it, either. Don’t believe everything people say about you – the good or the bad. You’re not as good as your friends think you are and you’re not as bad as your enemies say you are. As with most things in life, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

When someone compliments you on a job well done, smile, and say thank you, and give glory to God. But don’t let it go to your head. Learn this lesson well and do everything for God’s glory and honour. James 1:5
