Some of you may be familiar with the evolotion vs creation letters published in our local newspaper. The debate reached a stalemate as atheists pontificated the theory of evolution and the big bang hypothesis. Some Christians retorted with a diatribe of insults intended to make fun of their opponents.

The Bible does not teach that God created the world in six days. In the opening verse of Genesis 1:1 the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and earth”. This simple statement provides all the millions of years that science requires to support its views.

Those who believe in the creation theory are divided into 2 camps. Young earth theorists believe that the earth is only six thousand years old and base their deduction on the six day creation viewpoint. Every argument has at least three sides. Your view, the other person’s view and the correct one.

A Scottish theologian Rev Thomas Chalmers born in 1780 became a formidable proponent of the old earth theory and taught that Lucifer ruled the original earth in pre-historic times. He corrupted the first creation after his fall recorded in Isaiah 14. Chalmers taught that the mainstream viewpoint of six days of creation were days of restoration not creation.

Irrespective of what theory is correct one fact is clear and that is that God started it all. People are foolish to correct the Bible. The Word of God is designed to correct us.
