Father Forgive Them

When our Saviour suffered scorn, ridicule and rejection on Calvary’s Hill, He cried out “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!” Gossip, slander, rudeness and malice are often blind to the Truth. Jesus knew that the crowd that showed such hostility and hatred were acting out of ignorance. What God thinks of you is far more important than what people think or say about you. Bitter people often attack better people. The Lord hates prejudice and discrimination and loves repentance and righteousness. Christians should not act like the world in terms of judging others. Let the Word correct peoples wrongs and learn to pray for the good of others. My prayer is that God will raise up members in our church who live and show the Grace of God in every segment of their life. How do we know the difference between carnal judgement and divine judgement? Carnal judgement is based on prejudice and fear. Godly judgement is based on justice and love.

A former US President, Theodore Rossevelt, said it well:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement; and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly; so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”
