Many well informed Christians who know their Bibles and wisely discern the times are not surprised by the deceptive spirit so prevalent in the church today. 1 Thessalonians 5:4 “But you brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

Despite the clear warning given in the Scriptures to pastors who are shepherds of the flock we have allowed the sheep to be fleeced, 2 Peter 2:3 “And through covetousnesswill they with feigned words make merchandise of you.”. Wolves have entered into the church and shepherds have allowed them to devour and scatter the flock, Acts 20:29“Grievous wolves will enter in among you not sparing the flock.”.

We call upon fellow pastors to warn the flock of impending danger. The Lord said inMatthew 24:5 “Many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and shall deceive many.” (Please note that Christ means “the anointed one”). The modern day faith healers claim to be the anointed ones, therefore, “little christ’s” and audaciously claim to come in the name of Jesus. Remember the Lord warned us that many will say to him in that day “Lord have we not prophesised in your name, cast out devils and in your name have we not done many wonderful works. “ The Lord will then say “I never knew you, depart from me, you that work iniquity” Matthew 7:22 & 23. Furthermore we are warned in 2 Peter 2:2 “Many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.”

As pastors we need to seriously give heed to the warning of Scripture. Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch, Reinard Bonke and others are the epitome of what it means to be pernicious (they have a harmful effect on the credibility and truth of the Gospel). Peter goes on to say that because of these men the Truth will be evil spoken of. This is precisely what is happening in our world today.

The Trojan Horse has entered the church and men of God, who should know the Scriptures, act like spiritual anaemic and fail to resist the flood of confusion and heresy that currently swamps the local church. Please be assured of our prayers as we take hands in resisting this apostasy that purports to be revival.

God forbid that souls should be won by the likes of Bonke and Hinn, because such souls will buy in to the false gospel they preach. Galatians 1:9 “If any man preach any other gospel unto you, that you have received let him be accursed.” Remember that the Gospel, in essence, is the preching of the Cross – 1 Corinthians 1:18 “The preaching of the cross is the power of God.” Furthermore, the cross symbolises self denial. These people are self promoting and preach the false gospel of material prosperity. Take heed what the Scriptures say about such false preachers – 1 Timothy 6:5 “Corrupt minds, destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness from such withdraw yourself.”

May the Lord help us to test the spirits 1 John 4:1 “Test the spirits because many false prophets are gone into the world.”

Expose the lie and shame the devil. The truth will set your free.
