Wisdom, favour and love are three essential ingredients in the recipe of Christian ministry. This is what our founder, Bruce Woolard was thinking when in 1985, he started off his ministry by establishing our Congregational Church.

St Marks was founded on the principle of autonomy and during his first year of ministry, the conversion of a derelict and unused building into a place of worship illustrates that the Lord is able to transform an empty soul and convert it into a product of value and worth. The Lord used Bruce's tireless work-ethic and provided the direction whereby our Church attendance grew to a point that the old building was no longer suitable. This meant that the St Marks team needed to consider securing a suitable site and construct a larger Church building to serve our community.

Through divine providence, a vacant piece of land in Cape Road, Port Elizabeth was secured and what is today our St Marks Headquarters became a reality over 30 years ago! Over the past three decades, St Marks has grown from a small outreach Church to an established Church organization with over 1 000 families involved in our day to day activities.

Our Church now stands as a beacon of hope and solace and has developed its service to our members to include a Community School, offering both Primary and High School education, as well as a Theological Seminary Campus which is supported by a five Member Pastoral Team and over 15 Ministerial Staff Members.

Bruce, who drives our vision, has provided a space whereby we can adapt and develop innovative ways to delivering our Lord's message of compassion, provide support, care and ensuring that God remains relevant and instrumental in our family members day to day activities.

These efforts have culminated in what is today, a  vibrant organization that provides a home to all that need it most. Our Sunday Church services include a worship Team that delivers a mixture of contemporary and traditional music styles. In addition, our dedicated Church team manages our developing Ministries, Book Libraries, Coffee Shop, Care & Outreach Program, Children Schools, Ceremonial Services.

We are also driving our young outreach program through our sister Churches in Port Elizabeth, Jeffreys Bay, Motherwell and Uitenhage to develop their activities in line with our mainstream Church programs. The atmosphere in our Church is warm and friendly, with members and visitors alike leaving with their minds inspired and their lives challenged.

May the Lord truly bless you as you search to become evermore mature in your Christian faith, bearing testament in all you do, that others may come to know the liberty and power of salvation in and through the Lord Jesus Christ.
